From a story in Three Men, by Massimo Scognamiglio
Home to office, office to home.
Logline
Rome, 1985. A model office clerk turns himself in for the murder of his wife and two children. The bodies are never found, and day by day he remembers less of what he did.
Trailer
The story
Up at 6:30, a careful shave, coffee in bed for his wife, thirty-five years in the same office. On 7 October 1985 he calls the police and says he has killed his family. He won’t say how, or where the bodies are.
Months of interrogations follow, a psychiatric assessment, a court-appointed lawyer who builds the whole defence on doubt. Then a letter from his wife turns up and seems to change everything. The trial becomes a contest between the confession and the lack of evidence, and the ending overturns what the audience thought it had understood.
Notes
A courtroom drama set in a handful of places: the home, the prosecutor’s office, the courtroom. Together with The Bastard and The Journalist it can also become a three-episode miniseries.
